Telehealth: What to Expect
What video sessions look like before you log in
- Florida LCSW, license SW27230
- Secure video sessions
- In network with Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, and more
Getting set up
Before your first session
- 1
Pick a time on my scheduling page and enter your insurance.
- 2
Complete the intake and consent forms online. My Notice of Privacy Practices is in there too.
- 3
Watch for your secure video link, which comes by email or text.
- 4
Log on a few minutes early to check your camera, microphone, and internet.
Day one
Your first session, step by step
- 1
First, I confirm your identity and your location in Florida.
- 2
We cover confidentiality and the emergency plan, and you can ask me anything you want to know.
- 3
You tell me what's going on and what you'd like to be different.
- 4
We settle on where to start and how often we'll meet.
Every session
Two quick checks at the start
Each time we meet, I'll ask you to confirm that you're in Florida and give me the address you're at. That's not me being nosy. If something goes wrong mid-session, I need to know where to send help.
I'll also keep an emergency contact on file, a person I can call if I'm ever seriously worried about your safety.
Location
You have to be in Florida
My license is a Florida license, and Florida law treats the session as happening wherever you are.
Florida has not joined the Social Work Licensure Compact, so I cannot see you while you are in another state, even for a short trip.
Visiting family in Georgia for two weeks? We can pause or reschedule, or I can help you find care where you'll be.
Tech trouble
If the connection drops
- I'll try to get us back on video for a few minutes
- If the video won't cooperate, I'll call you at the number on file
- If neither works, we find a new time
- Tech trouble is never treated as a missed session
Privacy
Privacy and recording
- Sessions use a secure video platform built for health care
- I never record sessions without your written consent, and you can always say no
- Please do not record sessions either, unless we agree first
- Pick a room where you won't be overheard, like a bedroom or home office. A parked car works if you're not driving
- Headphones keep my side of the call private
This is not a crisis service
Telehealth sessions are scheduled appointments. If you are in crisis between sessions, call or text 988, or call 911 if you are in immediate danger.
Ready when you are
Grab a time on my scheduling page. Insurance, Medicare, and private pay all book the same way, with a place to enter your insurance as you go. Want to talk first? Call 754.400.0824 or send me a message.
What it costs: your plan’s copay or coinsurance if I am in network, 20% after the deductible with Original Medicare, or the private pay rate. See costs
For the curious
Want to nerd out on the research?
This is optional reading. It's the HHS guide to telehealth for behavioral health, in case you like going straight to the source.
