Grief shows up after all kinds of loss
Grief is not a problem to solve.
It is the cost of having loved something or someone.
It shows up after deaths, and also after divorces, diagnoses, lost jobs, lost friendships, and lives that did not go the way you planned.
Sometimes it is loud.
Sometimes it is quiet and shows up months later in the cereal aisle.
What it can look like
How grief can show up
- Sadness that hits out of nowhere, like in the cereal aisle
- Feeling numb or far away from everything
- Replaying what you said, or wish you had said
- Anger, sometimes at the person who's gone
- Sleep, appetite, and focus all knocked off track
- Feeling like everyone else stopped checking in weeks ago
How I approach it
We don't rush this
Nobody here will hand you five stages and a checklist. You can talk about the person, the marriage, or the job as long as you need. We also work on the daily things the loss knocked loose, like the mail you can't bring yourself to open, so it doesn't run your whole day.
What sessions might cover
- Talking about who or what you lost, for as long as it takes
- Sorting out mixed feelings, like relief tangled up with guilt
- Planning for anniversaries, holidays, and hard reminders
- Rebuilding routines and friendships
- Watching for when grief slides into depression
Grief doesn't have a deadline
There is no timeline you are failing.
Moving forward is not the same as moving on.

Common questions
Is it normal to still be this sad a year later?
Yes. Grief usually changes shape instead of ending, and an anniversary can stir it right back up. If ordinary days are still very hard after a long stretch, therapy can help.
Do I have to talk about the loss in detail?
No. You choose what to share and when, and we can start with how your mornings have been.
Ready when you are
Book a time on my scheduling page. It works the same way whether you use insurance, Medicare, or pay privately, and you can add your insurance when you book. Questions first? Call 754.400.0824 or send me a message.
What it costs: your plan’s copay or coinsurance if I am in network, 20% after the deductible with Original Medicare, or the private pay rate. See costs
