Mental Health is hard work. It's okay to make a mess.

Hey, I'm Jimmy and...
The Government calls me James so you don't have to.
I believe therapy works best when you are dealing with a real person, not someone hiding behind a perfect facade. Life can be messy, and I meet you in that space with honesty, compassion, and practical support. My goal is to make mental wellness approachable, human, and actually helpful.
I think mental health should be approachable.
Taking care of your mental health is important, but it is just as important to feel comfortable with the person who is doing the work with you. Too often therapy feels too clean, too distant, almost like you are talking to someone from another planet. That does not always work when you are navigating the hardest moments of your life.
What is a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern?
I’m a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern in Florida with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University. Growing up in South Florida with cerebral palsy gave me an inside view of how disability, inequality, and systemic barriers shape daily life. I’ve also lived through homelessness, trauma, and watching people I love struggle with mental health challenges and addiction. Those experiences pushed me to make meaning from hardship and shaped the way I show up for others.
With training in CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, I focus on adaptability and creativity, meeting people where they are, staying real, and finding solutions even when the path forward isn’t clear. Whether in supervised therapy, educational workshops, or community projects, the goal is always the same: to approach challenges empathetically, authentically, and in the best interests of you.
Being a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern (sometimes abbreviated to RCSWI) means that I am provisionally licensed and under supervision of other licensed professionals. This gives me the opportunity to practice my skills with the added benefit of decades of support for both myself and my clients.
